Flipping Houses - Flip That House (part 1)

Posted February 15th, 2007 at 9:27pm

I just looooooooove real estate. I am not sure when it started, but real estate as an investment tool is fascinating.

When we moved in across the street from Emori and Rob, and I learned about her unreal talent for fixing all things house, it was a natural progression for us to start flipping houses. We bought our first house about a year after we met.

While looking for that first house, we saw an ad on Craigslist about Flip That House casting. I called Em and told her, we both laughed, and we decided it was such a cool opportunity. So we emailed Actual Reality Pictures and they set up a screen test with us.

Bascially, we had to set up a camera to record us while a producer interviewed us. They asked all the obvious questions - why we got into this, how we became business partners, etc. I guess they liked us beacuse we got a call soon after the got the tape that TLC wanted us on the show.

We scrambled to find a house in time to make sure we were in sync with their other Austin flips. Our realtor, Karen, found us a REALLY ugly property in Pflugerville, Texas, that had been abandoned for 4 years and needed EVERYTHING. The only thing we didn’t replace was the four-year-old roof. We paid cash for it and we were on our way!
